Adjudication: The legal process of resolving a dispute. The judgment made in a court proceeding.

Amended: Reduce to a lessor charge or reduced from a felony to a misdemeanor status.

Arrest: The taking of an individual into custody by law enforcement personnel in order to potentially charge the person with an illegal act.

Conditional Discharge: To release or set aside based on the listed conditions. I.e.,
Drug Rehab, Counseling, Community Service, Anger Control Classes, etc.

Conviction: Verdict of guilty in criminal trial.

Deferred Adjudication: the final judgement is delayed. It is likening to probation before a final judgement. Charges are usually dropped and the case is dismissed. Durring the probation period the disposition is not necessarily considered a conviction.

Diversion Program: The court directs the defendant to participate in a work or educational program either before or after adjudication of guilt.
Dismissed: To put out of court without further hearing.
Disposition: Final judgment or sentencing information.
Disposition Date: Date of final disposition: sentencing was set or assigned.

Diversion: Court direction calling for a defendant who was found guilty to enter into a work, educational, or drug rehabilitation programas part of probation. If the conditions of the program are met, charges may be cnsidered a non-conviction.

Expungement: To destroy oe erase. Record may not appear in criminal history. If record appears, it is noted as "expunged". Record may destroyed or sealed after a certain period of time. Expunged records are paramount to total forgiveness and erasure of existance. 

Felony:A serious Offence whereby punishment is generally in state prison with incarceration for more than one year up to death by execution.

Infraction: Aviolation of rule or law that is not punishable by incarcertion. It is usually a violation of a local ordinance or a traffic offence resulting in a fine.

Jail: A place of confinement that is more than a police station or lock up and less than prison.

Judgement: Final decision by court.

Merged: Combined with another case.
Misdemeanor: A lesser offense than a felony where punishment is less than a year in jail, possibly a fine and possible only probation. Generally the conviction does not cause the person to go to prison.
Motion to revoke sentence: Attorney asks for defendant that a case / charge be withdrawn or reversed.
Negligent: To take no cafe of; fail to do; Omit through carelessness.
Nolle Prosequi: No prosecution. When Prosecuting Attorney declares he "will no further prosecute" the case.

Nolo Contendre:Latin whereby defendant does not contest. Has the legal affect of pleading "guilty".

Prison: A state or federal institution for incarceration of felony offenders for terms of one year or more.

Probation: relief of all or part of sentence with proper conduct on the part of the person.

Quash: No prosecution; however there is an option to re open the case.

Redline: "Warrant happy" - They cannot take out a warrant without substantial evidence.
Remanded: To send back. When an Appellate Court sends back to Trial Court to conduct new hearings, new trial or some other action.
Rocket Docket: Waived to grand jury - should have a disposition.

Verdict: Final and formal decisions or foundings by judge or jury.
Warrant: A judicial writ authorizing an officer to make a seizure or arrest of an individual.
20-Day Rule: If the court hasn't acted in 20 days, charge will be dropped.
Aggravated Assault: Attempt to cause serious bodily injury to another.
Cold Checks: Writing of checks without sufficient funds to cover them.
Criminal Mischief: A species of willful and malicious injury to property made punishable by statutes in most jurisdictions.

Criminal Possession of forged instrument: Using another individuals credit card, checks etc. for a personal transaction.
Disorderly Conduct: Purpose to cause public inconvenience, annoyance, or alarm, or recklessly creating a risk thereof, he: (a) engages in fighting or threatening, or in violent or tumultuous behavior; or (b) makes unreasonable noise or offensively coarse utterance,gesture or display, or addresses abusive language to any person present; or (c) creates a hazardous or physically offensive condition by any act, which serves no legitimate purpose of the actor.
DWI / DUI: Driving while intoxicated /driving under the influence of alcohol.
Possession of a Controlled Substance: Having drugs in their possession.
Theft by Deception: Stealing, theft by use of deceit.
Wanton Act: One done in malicious or reckless disregard of the rights of others, evincing a reckless indifference to consequence to the life, limb, health or reputation or property rights of another.
